crawling & looking
She crawls down the hall a few feet and then stops, turns around & looks back at me as if to ask permission if she can continue or to see if I'm watching her do something she should not be doing. She's a character.
Today for a nap she fell asleep sitting up,hunched over. When I realized it and tried to move her she woke up. But I'd dozed off myself so I'm not sure how long she was like that.

9 months
Today we went to the doctor for our 9 month checkup--22 pounds and all looks good.
This week she tried to eat a doodlebug that happened to find his way into our home. UGh! The next day she discovered the cabinet with the plastic containers and then yesterday it was the cabinet with the pots. She's getting around so well nowadays; she's a fast mover. She tried some new foods this past weekend: mjudra (lentils & rice) and coconut cake. She ate them both up. Today we had avocado and bread. She loves toast.
Right now as I type, she has occupied herself with blocks. I found them in brother's room as I've been cleaning that room out & boxing up stuff he no longer plays with.
She's done with the blocks...

dropping things
We played a game today: drop the coasters from the sofa. She loved it. She held each coaster over the edge and dropped it; then she'd drop the coaster holder. This went on for quite some time. then she crawled to the other end of the sofa to get the phone. but she fell off the sofa and cried. I will have to watch her for signs of trauma and I'm so upset with myself for letting that happen to her while I was right there! It was so quick.

crawling & eating
So the moving around has improved from the scooting/soldier crawl to full blown knee crawling now. And she's fast. She's discovered how to pull down the DVD's from the shelf and get the magnet letters off the dishwasher and fridge. She ate little mandarin oranges yesterday for the first time. Every item I give her she eats without a fuss... with the exception of fruit juice. She doesn't seem to care for that too much but she'll drink it with a semi-scowling face. And today I gave her corn on the cob kernels and then the entire cob when I finished it. Pictures forthcoming. She loves her fruit net thing with strawberries or mangoes. It sure does make a mess with fruit drippings but she enjoys it. She also likes toast.

I'm home
Well, March 28 was my last day at work. Now I'm home with my baby girl. Currently she's almost nine months old and wants to walk so bad. She pulls herself up on things. She's begun eating toast and some harder things. So far, she hasn't turned down any food item. She got her first 2 teeth on the bottom. They began to poke out around March 21. On March 26 she ate spaghetti.
On another note, my sister had her baby boy by an urgent c-section on 4-3-08. We travelled the 10 hours ride there on Wed. night to be there in CC Tx for the Thursday morning delivery. The ultrasound showed a breech position and possibily his stomach was underdeveloped and the doctor wanted to take him out the next morning. So we've all just returned from a nice visit to TX. Baby & mom are doing fine but baby will have to go see an orthopedic doctor because of his hips being disjointed somewhat from the position in the womb.
